Can the colour of my skin stop you from having a relationship with me?

I’m currently seeing this lady who is Sicilian and we are getting on really well like a house on fire there is just so much there to make a good relationship we have shared so many late nights together and kisses together but because of her culture (her dad, grandparents beliefs) she can not be with anyone my colour (I’m mixed race half white and half black African) but I really cant see what the problem is if we are both feel so strongly about one another and she has told me she’s never felt this way about someone like me then why is it such a problem I just don’t understand surly it shouldn’t matter if we both like each other that should be the only thing that matters and as long as we both treat each other right but as everyday goes on it hurts even more to know that nothing can come of this and will soon come to the point it will be no more. I just ask for peoples help to understand why this is such a problem and why it can’t be or at least know what to do.
