I need information about a coin?

My father gave me a coin on a necklace, He says it is from The Roman Empire in A.D. 40. I just want to know more about it. It depicts the right side of a mans face and on the back it depicts a naked man holding a staff in one hand and a scorpion-looking thing in the other.
