I think its your coloring/complexion that could lead people to think that. Don't worry you're pretty so people aren't saying this to try and insult you. I don't think it has anything to do with geography although some parts of Spain are warmer than here leading to darker skin tones, just like the middle east. Damaged laminate flooring?

In my house theres this dark wood laminate flooring. I put this polisher (called "rejuvinate") to make it all shiney. It didnt look nice so we washed it off. But some is still stuck on and it has this white residue that I cant seem to get off. Its all over the house what should I do? :(

Possible asbestos in my home?

I rencently purchased a home with an FHA loan. I removed the carpet to put in laminate, and discovered that the flooring underneath may be asphalt asbestos. No one told me about this previously. Also, the former owner patched an area of the floor (the subfloor is concrete) and he sanded some of the tile. Should my inspector have told me about the posibility of this floor containing asbestos? He saw the tile underneath, but probably did not see the part that was sanded. Also, he was telling me that it would not be a big deal to even out the flooring. He said that I could grind the high spots and use leveling compound on the low spots. This would obviously involve removal of the Asphalt tile. I am angry that the previous owner damaged the tile and possibly caused a health hazard for myself and my 5 year old son. Now I am looking at staying with a friend until this is resolved. Any suggestions?

My brother has horribly sweaty hands and he ruins my guitar strings among other things?

I taught my little brother to play guitar and he has 3 of his own guitars. I have many guitars, but was once a professional. He likes to sneak and play my guitars when he visits my house, ruining the strings on his very first play. I have designated nice guitars for him to play, he also brings his own but he spent the night the other day, snuck into my studio (which I keep locked, but he knows where the keys are) and gunked up a telecaster and a les paul. I know how to clean the strings, but it's never quite the same. So I have to change them to achieve the same tone for my recordings. I love my brother and don't want to be a jerk. He's emotionally fragile but he's cost me hundreds of dollars in strings and he knows he's not supposed to do this. He's also costs us thousands of dollars because he's inadvertently done things like damage our pool, damaged the laminate, equipment, etc. He doesn't work so he can't pay for things. He's almost 23 so it's not a matter of age and still lives with our dad. What is the proper way to deal with this since he won't listen to reason? He is a very sweet guy and my 2 1/2 year old daughter loves him. My wife feels sorry for him, as I do, yet he's expensive and time consuming. He supposedly has an IQ of 165 but has severe learning disabilities. Thanks for any advice.

if they screwed up the connectors then you can experiment with putting glue in the slots, put them together, put blue tape across regularity across the seams to keep them together until the glue sets up. you'll only be able to do small sections at a time, but experiment with this it should work.

I would like to visit Russia for a long period of time, but I am not white. I was curious to know about the racism in Russia (I hear it's terrible). I have a few Russian friends from there, but they are not racist (and their parents are part of the mob). I am in the states and hardly ever experience racism. Hello everyone I am Italian. Why consider us all mafia?

It's hype and a stereotype... There are too many movies and televisions programs about the mafia and there are too many uneducated Americans. And for some reason, some people think it is somehow "cool" to be in with the mafia and stupid notions like that. It goes a long with people thinking things like all Mexicans are illegal citizens or have TONS of siblings, all Asian people eat dog/cat, or all Germans are/were Nazis. Can you just relocate it to the basement? That is a lot of weight, and if it is a saltwater tank, thats troubling. Not just b/c the floor may not hold, but if it does... it will likely lean forward. Have to give my cat of 9 yrs up to a rescue?

I have had my cat since she was born although I could not take her until she was 6 wks old. She started having accidents when I brought her home and I had an older cat that has been deceased for 2yrs now. I think she despised having another cat around. She ruined a loveseat by peeing on it. Luckily I did not use it and no one sat on it. It was in an empty room. I had moved into a rental house from an apartment. When I met my husband and we moved to our own house she was fine for 2yrs and then when we had our daughter who is now 17 mos old our cat started doing the accidents again. We had 2 couches in our lower part of our bilevel house. It was a family room that we used sometimes. When my daughter learned to walk and talk alot at 13 mos our cat started the accidents again. She ruined 2 couches and b/c of the urine seeping down she ruined some of our laminate flooring. We had to throw them away b/c that is unsanitary. Then she started peeing upstairs out of spite b/c the couches were gone. She has pee'd on the living room wood laminate 2x and the bathroom 2x. I have taken her to the vet. She has no UTI's and no kidney stones or anything that would cause it except for the stress of our daughter. Our daughter does not touch her she laughs and smiles when she sees her and our cat runs and hides. Our daughter has never touched her and if she could of I would not let her pull on her tail or anything like that. I hate when people let their kids do that stuff to their animals. It is cruel. So my husband contacted a rescue center who is taking her on Sunday 6/5/11 and it is very hard for me and I feel that she does not want to be here anymore b/c of my daughter. I have put up with a lot from my cat and I love her, but it is not sanitary for my daughter, and other people. I keep a clean home. I clean her litterbox and give her food and water. I have to put her in a downstairs room at night b/c that is when she would pee upstairs. I cannot keep her locked up and I want her to go to a good family who has no children, the rescue center has agreed that she cannot, and people to take care of her and love her. I could not bear to send her to a shelter and her be there forever. She is a Siamese and the rescue center is a siamese cat rescue center that screens people that are interested in adopting their cats. She will go to a foster home 1st where they will see how she is in the enviroment to get a feel of what typee of people she would be able to be adopted by. So after this HUGE story. I feel like a horrible person and that I am just giving her away and I do not feel i can be here when they come for her but feel I should. I feel so sad.

Carpet replacement with laminate flooring - Good idea?

In 2010 I purchased my first home. After living here for about a month, I discovered that the previous owners' dog(s) had urinated all over the upstairs carpet. I realized this after my cats started defecating in the hallway up there and I used a black light to show the spots (like 80% coverage in the hallway (!), about 40% coverage in the game room, less in the bedrooms). They did a great job covering it up because no one noticed it except my cats! I had already decided to replace the carpet in the game room with wood laminate because I am putting a pool table in there. Due to the dog urine problem, I decided to also put the wood laminate in the hallway. I figured this would be better than carpet in the long run, especially since I have cats. Now I am wondering 1) if this was a smart thing to do with respect to resale and 2) whether this would be considered an improvement in my home value since the damaged carpet was replaced. Any Ideas on Room Design?

I need design help with my room, my room has light mint green walls, light "oak" (It's actually laminate, I have allergies) flooring, 2 dressers that are white (and my bed frame is white also), and I have 3 white shelves on my left wall. Is the gap between the wall and sub floor going to effect my laminate installation?

After removing the original carpet, I have found an uneven gap (between 1/4" & 1/2") between the sub floor and bottom of the wall board. What is the recommended fix for this? Okay, so, there is this guy in my grade at school. What receiver to buy for my speakers?

Sounds like youre just looking for a stereo receiver and not a surround sound reciever. Most stereo receivers are 4 channels and they give out enough power to push those 15s. I would go with sony or kenwood. Stereo recievers with the A/B option (front & rear) focus more on pushing the big speakers. They give out about 100 watts per speaker which is more than enough. Surround sound receiver have too many channels to distribute power to, and thats why you need a sub with them. Rated wattage is for each speaker.

Its been over a week since i applied advantage but why does my puppy still have fleas?

Laying tiles for bar countertop, need insight!?

For Memorial Day Weekend me and a few buddies have decided to host a party and throw a pig roast. The last thing on our list is building an outdoor bar. It's going to be roughly 7' x 3' and we want to make it look nice, I do take pride in craftsmanship. The counter-top is by far our biggest concern being that we want to tile most of it (6" x 6" porcelain). After consulting with one of my friends fathers he advised we need at least 1 1/2" of finished wood underneath the tile to avoid warping/cracking. He also mentioned something along the lines of 1 of the sides needing to be laminated/finished. I was wondering if there was any other/cheaper methods of accomplishing this, as I said cost is a concern being that we have spent a lot on the party as it is. Now if I have to spend the extra $ to do it right, that's fine, I don't believe in 1/2 a**ing a project. Just would like to know if there's another route we can take. I appreciate all of your help!

Slightly damaged passport?

Basically I'm flying to Spain in the next week and one of my friends has just commented on the condition of my passport. Basically I have a couple of water marks on one page and on the corner of my laminate page it's peeling, literally only a few mm on each corner. I presume in the removal you destroyed the tongue and groove in the laminate. You can nail laminate but it would probably not look very pleasing. I suggest you construction adhesive. This should hold your boards in position no problem.

Also, the former owner patched an area of the floor (the subfloor is concrete) and he sanded some of the tile. Should my inspector have told me about the posibility of this floor containing asbestos? He saw the tile underneath, but probably did not see the part that was sanded. Also, he was telling me that it would not be a big deal to even out the flooring. He said that I could grind the high spots and use leveling compound on the low spots. This would obviously involve removal of the Asphalt tile. I am angry that the previous owner damaged the tile and possibly caused a health hazard for myself and my 5 year old son. Now I am looking at staying with a friend until this is resolved. Any suggestions?
